Synopsis:
In the Wolof language, “dem dikk” means round trip. It’s also the name of the buses that criss-cross the city of Dakar.
Amongst a group of Dakar youth, caught between odd jobs and finding a way to get by, Pape Diop stands out. Pape makes it a point of honour of not “going by the book”, he refuses to become a “failed copy of the white man”, and he makes his way of sur- vival into a political statement... he’s “the ambassador for all of us who’ve never had the opportunity to leave”.
As the confrontations between Pape and the filmmaker from Europe roll by, stark inequality becomes evident and with it the backwash of a migration policy based on exclusion.
