Synopsis:
The Last Showing plunges us into the heart of one of the oldest neighbourhood cinemas in Belgium, which today is scheduled for closure. “The desire to make this film comes above all from my desire to set down permanently in images and sounds the routines and atmosphere of this soon-to-close cinema, which I have known since I was old enough to lay eyes on the screen. Our society is changing and transforming, leaving no more place for individuality or relationships with others. Neighbourhood cinemas remain a place where, in addition to being entertained or learning new things, people can come closer to those that they do not know. And let’s not forget the place itself. This cinema, which has been unchanged for 82 years, was able to preserve a certain elegance, despite the deep wounds that are condemning it to destruction today.
