Synopsis:
Mathilde, eight years old, is the only daughter of a working family living in a dilapidated mining cottage in a village in northern France. In the little street where her grandparents also live, life is punctuated by school and clocking off times. But Mathilde feels that Grandma is becoming odder and odder, particularly with her stories of buried treasure. Her friends declare in vain that she is mad but Mathilda understands that there lies forgotten, lost, much more than a simple story about a box.
