Synopsis:
“All the elderly will tell you the same, the advantage of an advanced age is greater liberty” says Ida d’Hooghe. Born in 1932 in Antwerpen to a family of musiciens, Ida became a radio talk show host in her twenties for the National Institute for Radio Broadcasting (NIR) at the Flagey building in Brussels. She then followed her husband, a UN diplomat, throughout much of the world. A mother of four, Ida has sought to find a balance between her independance, family and art ever since. In New York she obtains a master in Fine Arts. Today, she continues her artistic pursuits as a student at a Brusselsbased fine arts acadamy where she is working on a fresque. Idas’ artistic piece spans four generations of her family history. The film follows her work on the fresque and offers an inside into Idas’ daily life.
