Synopsis:
When he treads on Algerian ground, Jamel, a French archaeologist of Algerian origin, comes to take part in a dig at the wonderful Roman ruins of the village of Timgad. While the past is opening up to him, the present comes crashing down on him when he finds himself parachuted into the job of training the local football team, ‘La Juventus de Timgad’. He has eleven players aged 12; these are young boys who have to cope with a rotten everyday existence. They don't have shirts or boots, but they can dribble a football with some talent. Between ancient ruins and the open wounds of recent battles, Jamel finds this land has both the tangled old roots and new shoots of an Algeria that dreams of being reconciled - as well as football champions.
