Synopsis:
The year is 1912. Séraphine Louis, age 42, makes a living in Senlis doing odd jobs and housekeeping. In her free time, she paints everything she can get her hands on. One day, a German art critic discovers her work; Willem Uhde buys everything and encourages her to continue painting, but he is forced to flee France in World War I. In 1927, he discovers her again by chance, at an exhibit, and decides to encourage the old woman’s career once again, until 1942, when she passes away…
