Synopsis:: The daughter of a Belgian agent and a Rwandan woman, Suzanne was born in 1926. At the age of 4, her father takes her away from Africa to give her a European education. She is a “mulatto child saved from a negro destiny”.
Suzanne’s father is also the director’s grandfather, who discovered only at 27 that she had a mixed race aunt. The family story intersects with the bigger colonial history…
