Synopsis:
The atom is the smallest unit of matter, the common denominator of all beings, of the universe. A huge monument was built to symbolise the infinitely small. The Atomium, whose planned lifespan was to be six months, gets a transformation 47 years later. Marie-Françoise Plissart placed her camera at the core of the Atomium for a year, to film its bareness and reconstruction. Tiny men hanging from the steel giant work at returning it to its original splendour. The fascination of the Atomium has not weakened. We raise our eyes and continue to dream.
