Synopsis:
We aren't aware of our own manner of thinking, which is as entrenched in our world view as water in a fish's eye. Our consciousness is born of encounters with other people. When confronted with different situations, like a flying fish looking down on the water in which it usually swims, we realise that there are other ways to think and we become aware of our own. We become “self-ethnologists.” Taking part in a “philosophy workshop” is one way to transform ourselves into flying fish. Children can perhaps do it more readily than others.
