Our Struggles seduces the critic in Hamburg

During the closing ceremony of the Filmfest Hamburg Saturday October 6th, Our Struggles, the second feature film by Belgian director Guillaume Senez, has been awarded by the Critic’s Choice Award.

Our Struggles comes after Sean Baker’s Florida project in 2017 and Cristian Mungiu’s Graduation.

In 2016, Senez’ debut Keeper already took the Young Talent Award at the Filmfest.

Our Struggles tells the story of Olivier (Romain Duris). At work, he struggles to fight injustice. But from one day to the next, when his wife Laura (Lucie Debay) walks out, he is forced to juggle between his children's education, his family life and his career. Faced with his new responsibilities, he battles to find a new balance, because Laura never returns.

The cast includes Romain Duris, Laetitia Dosch, Laure Calamy, Dominique Valadié, Belgian actress Lucie Debay and, playing the children, the young Belgian actors Basile Grunberger and Lena Girard Voss.

The film is produced by Iota Production (French-speaking Belgium), Savage Film (Flanders) and Les Films Pelleas (France). It has been released October 4th in Belgium (Cinéart) and October 5th in France (Haut et Court). It is sold internationally by Be For Films.

The film is supported by the Wallonia-Brussels Federation's Cinema and Audiovisual Centre, the Flanders Audiovisual Fund (VAF), RTBF, VOO and Be tv, the Belgian federal government's Tax Shelter, Casa Kafka Pictures, the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region and the CNC, Ciné +, Indéfilms 6, the Normandy region and Cinémage 12 Développement in partnership with the CNC and finally the European Union MEDIA programme.
