5 Belgian short films at Annecy

The Annecy International Animation Film Festival has revealed its official selection. Among all the selected films, 5 Belgian French-speaking short films.

Selected in the Short Films competition, Sweet Night by Lia Bertels and produced by Ambiances asbl.

Synopsis :
In the winter in Yeti country, a bear cannot sleep. He feels miserable. To take his mind off things a white monkey tells him to go to his aunt's to eat some honey. A strange and beautiful night unfurls as the bear is happy that he hadn't fallen asleep.

In the Young Audience short films competition will be presented Big Wolf and Little Wolf and The Fox and the Bird.

Synopsis (Big Wolf and Little Wolf) : Big Wolf lives quite contentedly alone under his tree. One day he sees a Little Wolf approaching him who seems determined to keep him company. But Big Wolf has no need for his company. He likes the quiet life and his routine. At least, that’s what he thought…

This film has been directed by Rémi Durin and produced by La Boîte,...Production.

Synopsis (The Fox and the Bird) :
By chance a solitary Fox becomes a father of a Baby Bird barely out of its shell. This is how two paths cross creating a family, until Destiny reminds each of them of their true paths.

Directed by Samuel Guillaume and Frédéric Guillaume, this short film is in co-production with Nexus Factory.

Oneself story by Géraldine Charpentier, produced by Les Ateliers de la Cambre, will be presented in the Graduation films section.

Synopsis :
While non-binary representations are rare, Lou talks about their relationship to gender, clothes, and other markers.

Last Belgian short film in the official selection and presented in the TV films section : Panic in the Village “The County Fair” produced by Panique! and realised by Vincent Patar and Stéphane Aubier.

Synopsis :
Thanks to working hard and with some self-sacrifice, Indian and Cowboy successfully pass their school exams. As a reward, Horse bought VIP tickets for the Great Agricultural Fair, but Horse falls over and suffers amnesia. They must find the tickets!

This year, the Annecy International Animation Film Festival has received over 3000 films from all over the world. Among all of them, not less than 200 have been shortlisted to take part in the 2019 edition, which will take place June 10-15.
