2 shorts from Belgium in Oscars shortlist

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced the Live Action Short Film shortlist in consideration for the 92nd Academy Awards.

For the second time in a row, two Belgian shorts have been shortlisted : A Sister by Delphine Girard and Little Hands by Rémi Allier.

Staring Veerle Baetens (Broken Circle Breakdown), Selma Alaoui and Guillaume Duhesme, A Sister is a psychological thriller : A night. A car. A woman in trouble. A call.

Very successful in festivals, the films has already been awarded a dozen times.

A Sister is produced by Versus production. In coproduction with RTBF (Belgian television). With the support of Centre du Cinéma et de l’audiovisuel de la Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles, Mikros, and Pôle Image de Liège. With the support of Tax Shelter of the Federal Governement of Belgium and Inver Tax Shelter.

Little Hands by Rémi Allier tells the story of Léo, the two-year old son of the factory manager on the brink of closing.When employees discover the news, Bruno, a more radical worker who is willing to fight for his job, abducts Léo. Through a baby's point of view, Little Hands explores the world through Léo's eyes as he experiences adults' violence and encounters Bruno, who gradually becomes warm-hearted by the little boy.

The film is staring Jan Hammenecker, Sandrine Blancke, Emile Moulron Lejeune and Steve Driesen.

After its world premiere in Telluride, Little Hands travelled the world before taking the César for best short film in 2019.

Little hands is produced by Wrong Men. In coproduction with RTBF (Belgian television), Mollywood, What About. With the support of Centre du Cinéma et de l’Audiovisuel de la Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles, Arte France, CNC, Région Bourgogne, Région Aquitaine, Département des Landes, Département De Lot-et-Garonne, Film office from Lot-et-Garonne (Bat47), Tax Shelter of the Federal Governement of Belgium.

The Agence belge du Court Métrage is hadling the sales for both A Sister and Little Hands.
