Zero Fucks Given by Emmanuel Marre and Julie Lecoustre enters Cannes’ Critics Week

Good news keep coming for French-speaking Belgian Cinema! Cannes’ Critics Week has just announced its selection for its upcoming 2021 edition.
Zero Fuck Given, first feature by Emmanuel Marre and Julie Lecoustre was selected.

Multi awards winner Emmanuel Marre's debut feature was highly anticipated. Co-directed with Julie Lecoustre, Zero Fucks Given will premiere at Critics Week, Cannes’ prestigious sidebar.

Cassandra, 26, is a flight attendant for a low-cost airline. By fully embracing her flight-to-flight and party-after-party lifestyle, she stays faithful to her Tinder username "Carpe Diem". An unattached existence by the means of forging ahead without care is apparently fulfilling to her, until a mishap forces her to reconnect with the world. Will Cassandre be able to confront her buried pain and return to those she has left on the ground ?

Adèle Exarchopoulos (Blue Is the Warmest Color, Mandibules) stars alongside Alexandre Perrier as well as young Belgian actress Mara Taquin (Hors normes, Ennemi public).

Zero Fucks Given is produced by Wrong Men with the support of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation. International sales are handled by Charades and Cinéart will be distributing the movie in Belgium.

Marre directed many shorts and medium length films presented in multiple prestigious festivals: Le Petit chevalier (2011), Le Film de l’été (2017) but mainly D’un château l’autre for which he was awarded with the Pardino d’Oro at Locarno film Festival back in 2018. His first feature is co-directed and co-written with Julie Lecoustre with whom he wrote D’un Chateau L’autre.

Also announced today by the Critics Week, the selection of the Belgian Greek short film co-produced in Belgium by Tarantula, Brutalia by Manolis Mavris.

Created in 1962 by the French Union of Film Critics as a parallel section of the Cannes Film Festival, La Semaine de la Critique focuses on discovering new talents, revealing first and second feature films. Such directors as Jacques Audiard, Alejandro Gonzàlez Iñarittu, Ken Loach, François Ozon or more recently Julia Ducournau, Guillaume Senez or César Díaz were discovered by La Semaine de la Critique.
