Amsterdam Stories USA wins the Audience Award at IndieLisboa

Presented in the World Pulse competition, Amsterdam Stories USA, a full lenght documentary film, by Rogier van Eck and Rob Rombout wins the Audience Award during 10th IndieLisboa International Film Festival in Lisbon.

Amsterdam Stories USA is a road-movie tracing 15 small places in the United States, all of them named Amsterdam. Two Dutch descent filmmakers, Rogier van Eck & Rob Rombout, cross the country from East to West Coast, from their arrival in New York (former New Amsterdam) to California.
Through encounters and stories of the Amsterdams and of the road in between, the 6-hour film progressively weaves a singular image of the provincial and unknown “small town” America. The result is an intimate portrait and radiography of a protean country.

This arbitrary adventure has been realized over 2 years in 4 shooting sessions of 5 weeks each (between summer 2010 and autumn 2011). The 6-hour documentary (2012) is divided in 4 chapters of 90 minutes each : EAST – SOUTH – MIDWEST – WEST.

Since 2003 INDIELISBOA is a privileged event to meet the most recent and interesting works of independent cinema from all over the world. The main aim of the Festival is to discover new films and new directors, in the universe of independent cinema. Keeping its attention on the author's creativity and independence, INDIELISBOA was able to become the most important Portuguese Film festival.
