"Waiting for the Thaw" by Sarah Hirtt awarded at Cinefondation (Cannes)

The short film "Waiting for the Thaw" by Sarah Hirtt (INSAS) awarded by the second prize during the ceremony of the Cinefondation competition.

During the ceremony, the Cinefondation's president of the Jury, Jane Campion (Palme d'Or 1993) especially congratulated Sarah Hirtt for the quality of her directing, her framing and her actor's directing.
Belgian Sarah Hirtt appeared really honored to receive this award and thanked the whole jury of for this great reward.

Synopsis : Long divided siblings meet for the moving out of one of them. The atmosphere is tense. Valery, Victor and Vincianne take the road, not knowing that the trip will be hazardous... This short film is starring by three rising actors from Wallonia Brussels : François Neycken, Jean-Jacques Rausin and Claire Beugnies.

In 1998, Cannes Festival created the Cinéfondation to inspire and support the next generation of international filmmakers. Since then, with the help of the Festival, the Cinéfondation has developed complementary programmes to help achieve its goal. In 2013, Cinéfondation selected 18 films (14 fiction films and 4 animations) among the 1,550 films submitted from all around the world by 277 schools.
