Start of shooting of Joachim Lafosse’s The White Knights in Morroco

The Belgian filmmaker Joachim Lafosse (Our children) starts shooting this monday his new feature film, The White Knights (Les chevaliers blancs), in Morroco. The shooting will last 8 weeks. The main characters will be interpreted by Vincent Lindon, Valérie Donzelli, Louise Bourgouin and Reta Kateb.

Joachim Lafosse starts this monday, 17th of March, the shooting of his sixth feature film, The White Knights, in Erfoud region, Morroco. The movie focuses on the limits and issues of humanitarian interventions in Africa. The leading roles will be performed by Vincent Lindon, as a charismatic NGO director, and Valérie Donzelli, as a journalist who covers an operation aiming to exfiltrate 300 orphans suffering from West Soudan civil war. The movie will also star Louise Bourgoin and Reda Kateb, as well as Stéphane Bissot, Raphaëlle Bruneau, Jean-Henri Compère, Philippe Rebbot, Yannick Renier, Tatiana Rojo, Catherine Salée and Luc Van Grunderbeeck.

Jacques Arnault, Sud Secours NGO president, is planning a high impact operation: exfiltrate 300 orphans suffering from Tchad civil war to bring them back to French parents willing to adopt. The journalist Françoise Dubois accompanies them to cover the operation for the medias. Submerged into the harsh reality of a country at war, Jacques and his team lose their certainties and have to face limits and issues of humanitarian interventions.

The White Knights’ scenario was written by Joachim Lafosse, Bulle Decarpentries and Thomas Van Zuylen. It is a coproduction between Versus Production (Jacques-Henri and Olivier Bronckart) in Belgium and Les Films du Worso (Sylvie Pialat) in France, with France 3 Cinema, RTBF, Belgacom and Prime Time. With the participation of Inver Invest, BNP Paribas Fortis Film Fund, Soficinéma, Ciné +, Wallimage-Bruxellimage, Vlaams Audiovisueel Fonds and also MEDIA Slate Funding and Eurimages.

The film is supported by the Centre du Cinéma et de l'Audiovisuel of the Federation Wallonia-Brussels and Belgian Federal Government Tax Shelter. The film is due for theatrical release on the second semester of 2015. O’Brother Distribution will distribute it in Belgium and Le Pacte in France. Indie Sales will handle the international sales.
