"Boli Bana" at Cinéma du Réel

A Belgian documentary will be presented during the 39th edition of Cinéma du Réel in Paris.

Boli Bana, by Simon Gillard, will compete in International Competition « Premiers Films ».

Deep in the bush, a long caravan of zebu walks by. Embarked on a transhumance of months, four boys: Ama, Ousséni, Hassana and Lela left their families, determined to offer better pastures to their herds. Guided by these chil-dren, we experience a daytime trip in the landscapes of Burkina Faso and Mali, then, when night falls, we share the fears and desires of these Fulani children. In a second movement, the film relates a more sedentary living. We follow mothers, girls and newborns remained in the village.

Boli Bana is produced by Hélicotronc, co-produced with Grenade, RTBF, WIP and CBA. The film has also received support from the Centre du Cinéma et de l’Audiovisuel de la Fédération Wallonie Bruxelles, as well as the help of the Tax shelter of the Belgian federal government.

The 39th edition of Cinéma du Réel, International Documentary Film Festival, will take place from 24 March to 2 April in Paris.
