The Cinéfondation allocates a €15,000 grant for the First Prize. The winner of the First Prize is also guaranteed the presentation of his/her first feature film at the Festival de Cannes.

Paul is Here comes out from INSAS, prestigious Brussels art school. It has been chosen amongst 2600 shorts from around the world.

Valentina Maurel's Paul is Here tells the story of a step backwards, like a ghost knocking at the door. Paul is here, and his annoying presence will disrupt Jeanne's everyday life. Born in Costa Rica, both Costarican and French, Valentina Maurel travels to France to study film making. After going briefly through university in Paris, she moves to Brussels to obtain a master degree in directing.

The Cinéfondation was created in 1998 by Gilles Jacob, under the aegis of the Cannes Film Festival, for new talents’ searching. Its activities are organized around the Selection, the Résidence and the Workshop. The Selection concentrates around fifteen to twenty short and medium-length films presented by schools of cinema of all countries. Since 2000, the Résidence has offered dozens of young foreign filmmakers the opportunity to write the screenplay for their first or second feature film for four and a half months in Paris.
