Every year on 19 January, the Macedonian priests hurl a cross into the river and only a man who throws himself in can retrieve it. That man will be blessed throughout the year, becoming a sort of local hero. Petrunija, an unemployed young woman of 31, decides that she too will dive into the water, and she is the first to retrieve the cross! In a matter of hours, her plunge into the freezing waters has gone viral on the Internet. Petrunija is taken to the police station and this is when her struggle begins: against men, against the system, against the world.
