“At the Edge of the World” to have its world premiere at Mar del Plata!
Guérin van de Vorst and Sophie Muselle's new film is competing at the 39th edition of the Mar del Plata International Film Festival!
The Mar del Plata International Film Festival, organized by the National Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual Arts (INCAA), promotes the film and audiovisual activity in all of its forms, screening films of different origins, and supporting thematic diversity and styles. In it, the tradition of classic cinema coexists with new tendencies, new voices and new technologies.
For the 39th edition of the Argentine festival, the programmers at Mar del Plata have selected At the Edge of the World by Guérin van de Vorst and Sophie Muselle. Produced by Wrong Men, the film will have its world premiere in the International Competition.
Alexia, a strong-willed, idealistic 25-year-old, arrives as a trainee nurse on the closed ward of a psychiatric hospital, where she meets Joëlle, the head nurse, who teaches her the job. Alexia is touched by the anger of Mila, a 20-year-old patient who thinks she has no business being there. Despite Joëlle’s warnings about keeping her distance from patients, Alexia gets closer to Mila and does her utmost to try to get her out.
Let’s also highlight the selection of the co-productions The Most Precious of Cargoes by Michel Hazanavicius (Les Films du Fleuve, International Competition), Vermiglio by Maura Delpero (Versus production, New Auteurs), and Peaches Goes Bananas by Marie Losier (Michigan Films, Altered States Competition).
See you in Buenos Aires from November 21 to December 1, 2024!
