Three French-speaking Belgian short films selected in Clermont-Ferrand!
“Sol Béni”, “Jason et les Royaumes” and "The Carp and the child" are part of the 2025 selection for the Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Festival
The Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival has become the world's premier cinema event dedicated to short films. It is the second largest film festival in France after Cannes in terms of audience and professional attendance. It is at the heart of many all-year-round activities and missions conducted from La Jetée by the collective team of Sauve qui peut le court métrage.
This year, the French festival selected Jason et les Royaumes by Bertille Zénobie Estramon for its International Competition. The film is produced by Roue Libre Production.
After a suicide attempt, Jason spends the summer at his grandmother Aimée's house. Every week, a taxi driven by Agatha takes him to his physical therapy sessions. To escape the truth about his accident, Jason invents a new life during the rides, turning the journey into an imaginary and romantic escape.
In the Lab Competition, we find Sol Béni by Tristan Feres and Maky Margaridis. Produced by JAK Production and internationally sold by Fløw, the film was selected for its international premiere at the 2024 Tribeca Festival.
Faced with the prospect of an imminent farewell, two friends meet again on the soccer field where they grew up. While one is about to leave, the other is immersed in the nostalgia of days gone by. "Sol Béni" captures this delicate moment when a friendship knows it is condemned.
Finally, The Carp and the child by Morgane Simon and Arnaud Demuynck is selected is the Jeunes Publics section of the festival.
A child goes carp fishing. But he has the bad idea of bringing his little dog with him. Between the puppy, a frog and a duck, it's not easy to catch a fish...
