Géraldine Sprimont represented Belgium for “Producers on the Move”!

European Film Promotion (EFP) has selected Géraldine Sprimont, producer at Need Productions, to represent Belgium at the 2025 edition of “Producers on the Move”, a flagship initiative aimed at promoting emerging talents in European film production. In its 26th edition, the program will take place at the Cannes Film Festival.

Following three days of online events dedicated to networking and project presentations, EFP officially welcomed the twenty selected producers, along with this year’s guest producer from Ukraine. Their presence in Cannes is intended to foster international co-productions and encourage professional exchange within the industry.

Géraldine Sprimont joined Need Productions in 2011 alongside Anne-Laure Guégan. Together, they have helped establish the Belgian company as a key player in the field of auteur cinema on the international stage.

Among the acclaimed films produced or co-produced by Need Productions are, Nuestras Madres by César Díaz, winner of the Caméra d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival in 2019, Clara Solaby Nathalie Álvarez Mesén, presented at the Directors’ Fortnight in 2022, Soy Libreby Laure Portier, unveiled at ACID and winner of the Magritte Award for Best Documentary in 2023, Imago by Déni Oumar Pitsaev, showcased at the Semaine de la Critique in Cannes in 2025, where it was awarded both the French Touch Prize and the L’Œil d’or for Best Documentary across all festival sections. 

Géraldine Sprimont’s selection for “Producers on the Move” reflects the continuity of an exemplary professional journey and reaffirms her commitment to ambitious, uncompromising cinema rooted in contemporary realities.
