Joachim Lafosse at San Sebastian!

"A Silence", the new feature film by Joachim Lafosse in the Official Competition, as well as "Camping du lac", "Through the Night" and the short film "Entre les autres": a great year for French-speaking Belgian cinema.

Joachim Lafosse is a familiar face at the San Sebastian Festival. His previous films, "Les Intranquilles" starring Leïla Bekhti and Damien Bonnard, and "L’Economie du couple" with Bérénice Bejo and Cédric Kahn, were presented there in 2021 and 2016, respectively. A few years earlier, he also won the Silver Shell for Best Director with 'Les Chevaliers Blancs.'

This year, he returns with A Silence produced by Stenola Productions and internationally distributed by Les Films du Losange, making its world premiere. The film stars Daniel Auteuil and Emmanuelle Devos and tells the story of Astrid, the wife of a famous lawyer, who has been silent for 25 years and sees her family's balance crumble when her children seek justice.

Also worth noting is the presence of two French-speaking Belgian feature films in the Zabaltegi-Tabakalera section: "Camping du lac" by Eléonore Saintagnan, produced by Michigan, and "Through the Night" by Delphine Girard, produced by Versus Production.

Finally, Marie Falys' short film, "Entre les autres" produced by Mediadiffusion and selected in the Nest section, received a Special Mention.

Established in 1953 and recognized by FIAPF as a Category A festival, the San Sebastian International Film Festival is one of the most important European film festivals. Each year, more than 155,000 people attend. The 70th edition of the festival took place from September 22 to September 30, 2023.
