Laura Wandel will take part to the residency of the Cinefondation

For its 44th session, the Residence welcomes six directors, including the Belgian Laura Wandel, starting on 1 March.

Each year, the Cinefondation residency welcomes in Paris, over two sessions, a dozen of foreign directors to write their screenplay for a first or second feature film during four and a half months.

The participants of the first session from March to July 2022 have been announced. They include the director from Wallonia Brussels, Laura WANDEL. Her first feature film, Playground (Dragon Films Production) was presented at the Cannes Film Festival 2021. Since then, the film has met important success at various festivals, with 22 selections and 8 prizes won. The film was short-listed in the category of Best Foreign Film at the 2022 Oscars.

For the writing of her second feature film, she will participate in the "Cinéfondation" residency alongside 5 other directors: Arvin BELARMINO (Philippines), Dina DUMA (Macedonia), Andrei EPURE (Romania), Flurin GIGER (Switzerland), Katarina RESEK (artist name Kukla) (Slovenia).

Created in 1998 on the initiative of Gilles Jacob under the first name "Cinéfondation", the "Young Cinema" section of the Cannes Film Festival is dedicated to young filmmakers. It supports the film projects of young directors, from the writing of the script to the search for funding and recognition on the international scene.
