

The BFI selects three Belgian films for its 69th edition!
The full program of the BFI London Film Festival has just been announced and it features the film “Tóc, Giấy và Nước... (Hair, Paper, Water...)”, "Mother" and “Reflection in a Dead Diamond”.
Nicolas Graux and Trương Minh Quý’s new film Hair, Paper, Water… (Tóc, Giấy và Nước…), which has just won the Golden Leopard (Pardo d’Oro) for Best Film in the Cineasti Del Presente section and received a Special Mention from the jury for the Green Leopard at the Locarno Festival will be screened at the BFI. The film is showcased in the “Official Competition”. It is produced by Dérives and sold internationally by Lights On.
She was born in a cave, more than 60 years ago. Now she lives in a village, with many children and grandchildren to look after. Sometimes, she dreams of her dead mother calling her home – to the cave. The film captures fleeting moments of her daily life and the transmission of her fragile language, Rục, to her grandchildren.
After its premiere in Venice, the new feature film by director Teona Strugar Mitevska, Mother, has been programmed in the Debate section. The film was produced by Entre Chien et Loup and is being sold internationally by Kinology.

Ever since its world premiere at the Berlinale, Reflection in a Dead Diamond by Hélène Cattet and Bruno Forzani has been programmed in many different international film festivals. It has been programmed in BFI’s “Cult” section. The film is produced by Kozak Films and sold internationally by True Colours.
John D, a septuagenarian living in a luxury hotel on Côte d’Azur, is intrigued by his next door neighbor who reminds him of the wildest hours on the Riviera during the 1960s. At that time, he was a spy in a rapidly developing world full of promise. One day, this neighbor mysteriously disappears... bringing John face to face with his demons: are his former adversaries back to wreak havoc in his idyllic world?
Let us also acknowledge the five co-productions supported by the Centre du Cinéma et de l’Audiovisuel: The Songbirds' Secret by Antoine Lanciaux, co-produced by Dragon Films, in the Family section. Maryam Touzani’s next film, Calle Malaga, will be shown in the Love section. It is a co-production with Velvet Films. Julia Ducournau’s new film Alpha is presented in the Dare section. It was co-produced with Frakas Productions. Têtes Brûlées by Maja-Ajmia Yde Zellama, co-produced by 10:80 Films, is featured in the Journey section. Finally, At the Place of Ghosts by Bretten Hannam, co-produced by Beluga Tree, is in the Thrill section.
We should also note the presence of Belgian production companies. Scope Pictures is credited on L'Étranger by François Ozon in the Create section, and Les Films du Fleuve is credited on Enzo by Robert Campillo in the Journey section.
