"Olga's Eyes" and "Head In The Clouds" selected for the 2024 Fantasia Festival

Two French-speaking Belgian short films will be part of the 2024 Fantasia Festival program in Montreal

Since its inception, the Fantasia International Film Festival (Montreal) has explored various aspects of genre cinema, bridging avant-garde and mainstream films, both locally and internationally. The festival has continually grown since its first edition, now attracting numerous fans and international film industry attention, solidifying Fantasia as a significant cultural and professional destination in the genre film festival circuit.

This year, the festival has selected Olga's Eyes by Sarah Carlot Jaber in its Official Selection. Produced by Jungle Films, the film has won several international awards, including the Audience Award at the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival and the Strasbourg Fantastic Film Festival. The short film will have its Canadian premiere at Fantasia.

Olga, a music-loving octogenarian, is tired of killing humans. Could it be the vampire blues? For her daughter Simone, she’s just being picky! Olga is placed in a care home where she can deal with those “who have one foot in the grave”...

In the Mon premier Fantasia section, Rémi Durin's animated short Head in the Clouds, produced by La Boîte,... Productions, will have its Montreal premiere. The film has already been selected in numerous festivals, including Stuttgart and the 2024 Annecy Festival where it competed.

Alfonso, a young squirrel, always has his head in the clouds. He loves watching them and sometimes takes snapshots of them. His parents and friends find it hard to take his hobby seriously. But cloud-gazing is not always easy – Alfonso sometimes has to be as brave as some of the great explorers of our times.

See you in Montreal from July 18 to August 4, 2024!
