Michèle Jacob selected among the six directors of "Europe! Voices of Women in Film" at the Sydney Film Festival!
"The Lost Children" by Michèle Jacob has been selected for "Europe! Voices of Women in Film", the program organized by European Film Promotion as part of the Sydney Film Festival
"Europe! Voices of Women in Film" is a collaboration between the European Film Promotion and the Sydney Film Festival, aiming to highlight the talent and impact of European female filmmakers. This program allows European directors to showcase their latest films in a special section of the Sydney Film Festival. These talents and their works will be showcased to Australian audiences and the press. Additionally, the program offers networking opportunities with key players in the Australian film industry.
This year, Michèle Jacob's first feature film, The Lost Children, has been selected to be part of this program at the 71st edition of the Australian festival. The film, produced by Velvet Films, premiered at Karlovy Vary in July 2023.
Audrey, a 10-year-old girl, her sister, and two brothers are about to spend their vacation in an isolated house in the forest. When they realize their father is missing, they must organize themselves to survive and find a way back home. However, the forest prevents them from leaving, and the house turns against Audrey. To save her siblings, Audrey must confront her nightmares and understand their meanings.
Let's also highlight the presence of Silent Panorama by Nicolas Piret, produced by Zorobabel, in the Breakthrough Talents section of the festival.
In the midst of nature, at the foot of a cliff, two campers intrigued by external noises traverse deserted landscapes with a lamp in hand. Crackling, trickling, and other sounds bring these places to life, home to a silent fauna, almost invisible yet unmistakably present. This film was drawn and animated single-handedly on a single sheet of paper as a performance piece.
The festival will take place from June 5th to 16th, 2024, in Sydney, Australia.
