“Rio Remains Beautiful” in Competition at RIDM 2025!
The short film "Rio Remains Beautiful" is part of the program of the Montreal International Documentary Festival (RIDM), which will take place from November 20 to 30, 2025, in Montreal.
The RIDM is one of the most renowned documentary film festivals in North America. Each year, the event showcases more than 150 Canadian and international works, offering audiences a rich panorama of new forms of documentary storytelling. In parallel, the RIDM Forum serves as a key professional market in Quebec, fostering meetings, project development, and exchanges among filmmakers, producers, distributors, and other industry players.
After its world premiere in Locarno, where the film won the Pardino d’Oro SRG SSR award, Rio Remains Beautiful continues its journey in international festivals. The second short film by Felipe Casanova is now selected in the Short and Medium-Length Competition section of the RIDM. The film was produced by Felipe Casanova and Un Point Bleu Pâle.
We would also like to highlight the presence of two French-speaking Belgian co-productions supported by the CCA also selected at RIDM:Liti Litiby Mamadou Khouma Gueye in the Panorama-Horizons section (Twenty Nine Studio & Production) and Imago by Déni Oumar Pitsaev in the International Feature Competition (Need Productions).
