Ten French-speaking Belgian short films selected for Clermont-Ferrand!

Ten French-speaking Belgian short films are part of the 2026 selection of the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival.

The Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival is today the most important film event in the world entirely dedicated to short films. Created in 1979 and gradually becoming an unmissable rendez-vous, it brings together tens of thousands of spectators each year, as well as professionals from all four corners of the globe.

Renowned for the diversity and quality of its programming, the festival offers several competitions : national, international and Labo, which highlight the creativity, boldness and innovation of both emerging and established filmmakers.

In terms of audience and professional attendance, it is the second-largest film festival in France after Cannes, and plays a major role in discovering new talent, fostering new narrative forms and supporting short works toward wider circulation and distribution.

This year, the French festival has selected Buda by Raphaël Kaddour for the International Competition. The film is produced by Médiadiffusion.

In the National Competition is Bread and Gamesby Judith Longuet-Marx and Léa Tarral, produced by Dérives.

There are also two Belgian films included in the Labo Competition: Souvenirs d’un ami by Olivier Smolders, produced by Les Films du Scarabée, and Rio Remains Beautiful, directed and produced by Felipe Casanova and Un Point Bleu Pâle.

In the Young Audiences section, four films produced by La Boîte… Productions are featured: Eagle and the kinglet by Paul Jadoul, Tell Me About Winter and Snow Bath in Norway by Pascale Hecquet, and Cloud fish by Noé Garcia.

There is also The Great Dreamscape by Rémi Durin, produced by Kwassa Films, and Prout by Marc Henri Wajnberg, produced by Wajnbrosse Productions.

We would also like to highlight the presence of French-speaking Belgian co-productions supported by the CCA in the International Competition: Air Horse Oneby Lasse Linder (White Boat Picture) and Loynes by Dorian Jespers (SCUM, Wrong Men). In the National Competition: Breaking away by Simon Helleco (Naoko Films). And in the Young Audiences section: The Song of the Storms by Caroline Attia (Take Five).

Finally, we are delighted to announce that filmmaker Guillaume Senez will be presenting his new short film (co-directed with Lazare Gousseau and Franck Morand), That Which Does Not Exist Does Not Exist, in the National Competition. The film is co-produced by Versus Production.

See you in Clermont-Ferrand from January 30 to February 7, 2026 to discover these Belgian short films!
