"Silent Panorama" in competition at the Festival Tous Courts!
Nicolas Piret's animated short film is selected in competition at the Festival Tous Courts in Aix-en-Provence
The Tous Courts Festival is organised by the Rencontres Cinématographiques d'Aix-en-Provence association. In December 1983, film students from the faculty of Aix-en-Provence organised a meeting to screen in public the short films they had made in their workshops. The enthusiasm generated by this event led to the creation of the association Les Rencontres Cinématographiques d'Aix en Provence and the birth of the Tous Courts Festival. This festival will have its 42th edition in 2024, following 41 years of learning, research, discoveries, regional, national and international recognition.
Silent Panorama, directed by Nicolas Piret, has been selected for the Experimental Competition of the festival. This animated short film has been featured in numerous international festivals in 2024, including the Annecy Festival, Karlovy Vary, ZINEBI, and more recently at AFI FEST, where it received a Special Jury Mention. Silent Panorama is produced by Zorobabel and internationally distributed by Manifest Pictures.
In the middle of nature, at the base of a cliff, two campers, intrigued by outside noises, cross the deserted landscape, lamp in hand. Cracking, trickling and other sounds give life to these places, home to a silent fauna, almost invisible, but still very present. This film was drawn and animated alone on a single sheet of paper as a performance.
