The 2023 edition of the Jerusalem Film Festival kicks off on July 13th. Among the films being introduced this year, Philippe Van Leeuw's latest feature film, The Wall, produced by Altitude 100, receives its world premiere in the Gala section.
Jessica Comley is a border guard patrolling a zone of Arizona's desert along the border with Mexico. Comley takes her mission seriously, that of defense of the United States. She enjoys her job and will not allow anything to stop her being the best at it. This zealous approach brings her under the radar of her superiors, until one day a loss of control leads her to kill an unthreatening migrant in front of three witnesses. One is her colleague who tries to cover up the crime and the others are a Native American and his grandson. Their versions of events don't correspond.
The tribute to the Dardenne brothers is also noteworthy and involves a retrospective of their filmography. 8 films co-directed by the two filmmakers are being shown: La Promesse (1996), Rosetta (1999), The Son (2002), Lorna's Silence (2008), The Kid with a Bike (2011), L'Enfant (2005), Two Days, One Night (2014) and Tori and Lokita (2022).
The 2023 edition of the Jerusalem Film Festival takes place from July 13th to 23rd.
