Three French-speaking Belgian short films at the São Paulo International Short Film Festival!

"Eldorado", "Lumi takes her time" and "Loveboard" will be featured at the 35th edition of the SPISFF

The São Paulo International Short Film Festival aims to foster greater exchange between Latin American and international productions. More focused on culture than competition, the festival aspires to present films that contribute to the development of short films in terms of aesthetics, specific format, and production methods.

For its 35th edition, the festival has selected Eldorado by Mathieu Volpe in the International Program section. The film, produced by Velvet Film, has already been selected for several festivals, including Alice Nella Città in 2023 and more recently at the Brussels Short Film Festival 2024.

Originally from Cameroon, Awa works as a snowcat driver in La Thuile, the last Italian town before France. At the end of her shift, she encounters a young migrant desperately trying to cross the border. Helping him traverse the mountain might be the only way for her to silence a persistent and gnawing guilt.

Lumi Takes Her Time by Nicolás Rincón Gille, produced by The Blue Raincoat, is also included in the International Program category of the SPISFF.

Lumi has her whole life ahead of her. She just wishes it could be her own.

Finally, the short film Loveboard, directed and self-produced by Felipe Casanova, will be part of the Unlimited Showcase program. The film is distributed internationally by Kino Rebelde. It had its world premiere at Kurzfilmtage Winterthur and was selected for Cinéma du Réel in 2024.
