Three Films Selected at CPH:DOX 2026!

For the 23rd edition of the festival, the Danish documentary festival has selected three Belgian films: “This Is Not a French Film”, “Hair, Paper, Water… (Tóc, Giấy và Nước…)” and “Merckx”.

Tom Adjibi’s first feature-length film, This Is Not a French Film, will have its world premiere in the competitiveNext:Wave Competition section of CPH:DOX. The film is produced by CVB and sold internationally by ODD Slice Films.

After winning several awards at Locarno, including the prestigious Golden Leopard for Best Film last year, Hair, Paper, Water… (Tóc, Giấy và Nước…)has continued to circulate widely on the festival circuit. The documentary by Trương Minh Quý and Nicolas Graux has been selected in the Artists & Auteurs section. The film was produced by Dérives and is sold internationally by Lights On.

Merckx, directed by Boris Tilquin and Christophe Hermans, is featured in the festival’s Highlights section. The documentary is produced by Kaos Films.

We should also highlight the presence of two co-productions supported by the CCA. As the festival’s opening film, Mariinka by Pieter-Jan De Pue will screen in the Highlights Special Gala section (co-produced by Naoko Films). La Montagne d’or by Roland Edzard (co-produced by Wrong Men) will also be shown in the Urgent Matters section.

It is also worth mentioning Clin d’Oeil Films, which co-produced Kabul Between Prayersby Aboozar Amini, also selected in the Urgent Matters section.
