Visions du Réel 2026: A great for Belgian documentaries with no fewer than five documentaries selected
This 57th edition will feature three Belgian world premieres: “Of Sun and Lead”, “Fracture”, "Like a Fortress" and “Here, Elsewhere”, as well as a second festival selection for “Forest High”.
Since 1969, Visions du Réel has showcased bold and distinctive works rooted in past, present, or future realities. For ten days, the Festival turns Nyon into a meeting point where several generations of filmmakers and artists from around the world connect with a loyal and curious audience. Recognized as one of the world’s major festivals dedicated to documentary cinema, it presents a majority of films as world or international premieres and serves as an essential creative platform for the thousands of film professionals who gather there each year.
The new film by Jérôme Le Maire, The Price of the Sun will compete in the International Feature Film Competition. It is produced by Clin d’œil Films and Iota Production.
In the Burning Lights section, audiences will discover Fracture, the debut film by Keren Kraizer, produced by the CVB. In the same section will be presented, Like a Fortress by Lou Colpé, produced by Dérives.
Here, Elsewhere, directed by Comes Chahbazian, will be presented in the International Medium and Short Film Competition. The documentary is produced by the CBA and Matière Première asbl.
Following its world premiere at the Berlinale, where it received a Special Mention, Forest High by Manon Coubia will be screened in the new Borderlight section. The film is produced by The Blue Raincoat and internationally distributed by Rai Cinema International Distribution.
The festival will take place in Nyon from April 17 to 26, 2026.
