Three French-speaking Belgian productions at IndieLisboa

IndieLisboa has selected "Mambar Pierrette", "Wild Tale", and "Muscle Masqué dans: Ferraille Pagaille" for their 2024 edition

IndieLisboa is an event that allows discovering the most recent and interesting works of independent cinema from around the world. The main objective of the festival is to present new films and new directors in the realm of independent cinema. With a particular focus on creativity and authorial independence, IndieLisboa has succeeded in becoming the most important Portuguese film festival.

Mambar Pierrette by Rosine Mbakam is selected in the competitive section Silvestre, which gathers films that reject established formulas, awaken new languages, and whose rebelliousness reflects the spirit of the festival. The film is produced by Tandor Productions and sold internationally by The Party Film Sales.

In the rain of Douala, Mambar, resigned, empties the water that entered her house with the help of her children. Arriving in her sewing workshop, the same ordeal begins again. One by one, customers parade through her workshop with one word on their lips, the preparation for the back-to-school season. Mambar has not yet bought anything for her children. Her days are long, the wait for her children is great, but will the rain of Douala let the sun shine on Mambar and her children?

The animated short film Wild Tale by Aline Quertain, produced by Zorobabel, is selected in the International Competition.

In the midst of a boreal forest, a solitary feline meets a small bird. These two beings, opposed by nature, surprise and attract each other. A relationship of friendship tinged with mistrust is born between them.

Finally, in the IndieJúnior section, we find Muscle Man in: Metal Meyhem by Nicolas Gemoets, produced by La Cambre.

Muscle Man, the cleanest superhero in the world, embarks on a breathless battle against a giant robot determined to reduce the city to rubble, but his obsession with order could lead to his downfall.

Also worth noting is the presence of two Belgian co-productions: Rising up at night by Nelson Makengo (Twenty Nine Studio & Production, International Competition) and Soundtrack to a Coup d'Etat by Johan Grimonprez (Onomatopée Films, IndieMusic).
