Belgium well represented in Göteborg

The Göteborg Film Festival has included no less than five French-speaking Belgian films in its 2024 program!

The Göteborg Film Festival is the primary film festival in Scandinavia and, with an audience of 200,000 visitors per year, one of the largest festivals in the world. Göteborg also aims to serve as a meeting place for the Nordic audiovisual industry. In 2000, the festival created the Nordic Film Market, which is now the largest specific marketplace for new Nordic films. For its 2024 edition, the Swedish festival has included five French-speaking Belgian productions.

In the Voyage section of the festival, were selected:

The (Ex)perience of Love by Raphaël Balboni and Ann Sirot, produced by Hélicotronc and internationally sold by Be For Films.

Rémy and Sandra are unable to have a child as they suffer from “Past Love Syndrome.” In order to be cured, they only have one solution: they have to sleep once again with each and every one of their past lovers.

Mambar Pierrette by Rosine Mbakam, produced by Tandor Productions and internationally sold by The Party Film Sales.

Under the rain of Douala, Mambar, resigned, empties the water in her house with the help of her children. When she arrived in her tailoring shop, the same ordeal began again. In turn, the customers parade in her shop with only one word in the mouth, the preparation of the return to school. Mambar has not yet bought anything for her children. Her days are long, her children's expectations are high, but will the rain in Douala let the sun shine on Mambar and her children?

Through the Night by Delphine Girard, produced by Versus Production and internationally sold by Playtime Films.

One night, a woman in danger calls the police. Anna takes the call. A man is arrested. Weeks go by, the courts search for evidence, and Aly, Anna and Dary face the echoes of that night that they cannot leave behind.

Omen by Baloji, produced by Wrong Men and internationally sold by Memento International.

Four characters, considered witches or sorcerers by their families and communities, see their paths cross in a magical-realist Congo. Only through mutual aid and reconciliation can they escape the curse that rests on them.

In the section Focus: Another Intelligence, was selected Human not Human by Natan Castay, produced by Médiadiffusion and internationally sold by the CBA.

Also noteworthy is the presence of two Belgian co-productions: 'Green Border' by Agnieszka Holland (produced by Beluga Tree) and 'L'île rouge' by Robin Campillo (produced by Les Films de Pierre).
