The film follows part of the director’s childhood on a French military airbase in Ivato, Madagascar, after the country gained independence but before the French troops departed in 1972. We follow two points of view: a 10-year-old child trying to make sense of the adult world and a young Malagasy woman who works on the base, helping with the beginnings of the student movement that will hasten the departure of the French troops.
