"Get Away From My Sun" awarded at the Festival dei Popoli!

For its 64th edition, the Jury of Italy's largest documentary film festival honored "Get Away From My Sun" by Messaline Raverdy with the Best Medium-length Film Award.

The Festival dei Popoli (Florence), the oldest documentary film festival in Europe, featured two French-speaking Belgian films for its 2023 edition, which to took place in Florence from November 4 to November 12.

Get Away From My Sun by Messaline Raverdy, selected for the International Competition of the festival, won the Best Medium-length Film Award. The film is produced by Matière Première and is internationally distributed by CBA.

This is, between order and chaos, the debacle of a Don Quixote of modern times and his struggles, his dreams, his memories. This is his crossing over the century. Through him appears the portrait of a place – the deluge of remnants. How can one live before the world collapses? The film is a kaleidoscope of warm and cold, excess and bursts of laughter. It also tells his encounter with the filmmaker. It is the promise of one second life, as well as the statement for uncompromising freedom.

The short film Go Away, Alfred! by Célia Tisserant and Arnaud Demuynck, produced by La Boîte,... Productions, was included in the Popoli for Kids & Teens section.
